Zookeskus Cato
The non-profit organization ZOOKESKUS CATO was founded in 2006 as a club that belongs to the WCF, the World Cat Federation.
More than 1,000 cats of various breeds registered at the Cato Club. The most represented are British long- and short-haired, Scottish folds and straights, and Maine Coons. In addition, our club has breeders of Abyssinian, Burmese, Bengal, Siberian, Norwegian wild cat and many other breeds.
Through our club, it is possible to get help to find a suitable cat for your home, as well as for breeding, both in Estonia and in other parts of the world. We advise and help both club members and other cat lovers.
The main tasks of the club are to promote the awareness of breeders, accredit kittens, issue breed certificates, and register kennels.
The goals of the club are to ensure that there are healthy cats in Estonia. We require from our breeders that the cats have all tests for genetic diseases caused by heredity and that they must visit a veterinarian regularly. Our mission is to improve the cat population and strengthen their breed characteristics.
We also organize international cat shows at least 3 times a year. Both pedigree and domestic cats can participate in exhibitions. Through the exhibitions we organize, we want to raise people's awareness about cats and create a connection between breeders and cat lovers. It is our duty to support breeders in breeding purebred cats according to WCF standards. We support the welfare of cat breeds and non-breed cats by cooperating with various NGOs that help abandoned animals.
